Each year on the third Thursday in November, French people and wine lovers around the world await the release of the new Beaujolais wine. Just after midnight in France, the wine is released worldwide for sale and the event is celebrated with parties and even fireworks.
Beaujolais is made from recently harvested Gamay grapes, picked by hand, as French law requires, in the Burgundy region. It is a wine that is meant to be drunk young--just 6-10 weeks after the harvest.
Join your TMCA friends for our own Beaujolais party at a Laguna Harbor Marina November 18-19. There is no charge for dockage!
We will have a wine tasting to see which you prefer. Please bring a bottle for yourself and one to share!
This year, we will cruise to Laguna Harbor Marina and our wine tasting event will take place at the wet bar area under the clubhouse. There are 6 power pedestals with 12 total 50 amp outlets. Select "Cruising" then choose "Destinations" from the drop-down menu and look for Laguna Harbor.
Due to the limited number of power pedestals and the distance between them, the first 10 boats (or 12 if we have some smaller boats) are most likely to get power. After that, you will need to use your generators. If you have a splitter, we can split off two 30's from the 50 amp plug, but that may require a boat to raft up next to another one so all boats can reach the power pedestal.
Saturday, November 18, 9:00 am - s/v Rainbow will be at Channel Marker 2 to lead a group to Laguna Harbor. From there, we will sail/motor to Houston Ship Channel 59. Staying in the barge lane, continue to HSC 46 where we will exit the ship channel into the East Bay. Continue south to Bolivar Peninsula red 20, then turn east into the ICW and to Laguna Harbor.
Saturday, November 18, 5:00 pm - Appetizers to share and wine tasting. I will try to get three varieties to compare. After appetizers and wine tasting, we will have a dish to share.
Sunday, November 19, 9:00 am - Breakfast to share and departure on your own.
