Fall Cruise - Cedar Bayou

  • Cedar Bayou

Come join us on this wonderful cruise up Cedar Bayou, bayou entrance just north of Morgan’s Point.

To maintain social distancing we’ll have a floating dinghy happy hour Saturday afternoon instead of a large gathering on 1 boat.

This is a great opportunity to practice anchoring overnight in a very protected anchorage and also practice your piloting skills. There is commercial traffic on the bayou so keep your eyes peeled and utilize your AIS. Many of the fixed markers are in shallow water so stay in the marked channel in the deeper water. The shallowest portion will be at the entrance to the anchorage, just stay in the middle and you should be fine. The entrance is at least 6’ if you’re in the middle.

The south side of the anchorage is deeper further to shore than the north side so that’s the side we favor when we anchor. We typically sit to the current, parallel to shore. We use 1 anchor instead of 2 and haven’t had any issues. There are small fishing boats that use this cut to get to the bay so don’t be surprised if they zip through. No traffic at night.

No registration required for this event.
