iNaturalist Cruise with GBF

       Saturday, April 30th 2022, 4:00 - 7:00pm

Join us is supporting Galveston Bay Foundation (GBF) by hosting young Millennial members of Outdoor Afro and GBF volunteers on your boat for an afternoon on the water.  The outing is designed to expose this group to the Galveston Bay area and its ecosystem.  We will be documenting what we see on the iNaturalist app as part of the City Nature Challenge, helping to populate the national database with local plants, insects, birds, fish and other wildlife observations seen while out on the water.

Please consider giving back to our community by providing this diverse group access to our playground on Galveston Bay, most of which have never even been on a boat.

We need several more boats to host 2-4 guests per boat to help GBF with this project.  We will be working in conjunction with the Nassau Bay Yacht Club to host the guests and volunteers.  TMCA has been granted special permission by the Nassau Bay Yacht Club and HOA to use 5 of their docks for this event.  You have the flexibility to stay in Nassau Bay, Clear Lake, Clear Creek or venture out into Galveston Bay for the excursion.  The trip route will be determined by each boat's Captain.  You should provide a safety briefing for your guests (PFD's, etc.) but, are not expected to provide a meal or refreshments.

We will forward specific details to registered participants regarding the pre-departure meeting, passenger assembly, assignment and pick up with GBF, Nassau Bay Yacht Club, guests and volunteers.  Guests will be assigned a boat and can meet you at your marina or at the Nassau Bay Yacht Club docks.
