Bonjour, Boaters! Join Us for a Springtime French Picnic! ⚓

Dear Cruising Friends,

We're excited to invite you to our annual French Picnic, now with a fresh twist! Traditionally held the weekend after Thanksgiving, this beloved event has sailed into springtime for a delightful new setting.

Date: April 3rd-April 5th the actual picnic will be on Saturday the 4th

Location: East Fork Double Bayou at The Pasture

What to Expect:

A relaxed afternoon of camaraderie and fine French-inspired dining.

French Dish Contest: Bring your tastiest French dish for a chance to win prizes! Think quiche, coq au vin, baguettes, or your best French dessert.

Whether you're channeling your inner Julia Child or simply savoring the dishes, it's a great time to reconnect with fellow cruisers and celebrate spring.

Let's raise a glass (or a baguette!) to good food, good company, and the joy of boating! We look forward to seeing you there.

Bon appétit!

Note from the Cruise Leader,

Two years ago we went "back to the pasture" with a couple boats drawing more than 5 feet with the thought of using the success of that cruise to promote a return to the French Picnic. Both Return to the the Pasture and French Picnic cruises were very successful and here we are again.  Last year the only boat that got stuck even for a few minutes was me when I mistook the wreckage of Marker 11 for the totally missing marker 12, navigational error by me. The tidal situation this year is very close to optimal in terms of height and times. The weather should be great and with a likely south wind there will almost surely be plenty of water up there.

Specific emails on Pasture mooring techniques and required equipment will be sent to registrants. We moor straight in to the side of the bayou and you will need. gangplank to get on and off your boat. These are simple and inexpensive to construct and many creative designs have been seen over the years. More on that later too. For now just register and start perusing the Internet for good French recipes. Competition last year was tough. I've never been on another cruise where the food was better.
